The Austrian Chairmanship of the OSCE and the Belarusian CEI Presidency organised the OSCE-CEI High-Level Panel Discussion “Beyond the emergency: improving the international response to large movements of people” in Vienna on 9 June.
 
In the framework of the Belarusian CEI Presidency, the ministerial conference on Promoting Connectivity in the CEI Region: Bridging the Gap between Europe and Asia as well as the meeting of the Senior Management of the CEI Chambers of Commerce and Industry took place in Minsk on 8-9 June.
 
Accessibility is not a special need, everyone needs equal access and equal opportunies was one of the main topics of discussion during the transnational conference COME-IN! Challenges towards the accessible museum” held in Brussels on 8 June.

Several EU stakeholders attended the event focused on the COME-IN! Guidelines, i.e. a set of rules, technical requirements and legal framework to ensure full accessibility of small and medium-sized museums in Central Europe.

The Meeting of the CEI PD Parliamentary Committee under the title "Intellectualization of economy in the CEI region: innovative production, governance and human capital" took place in Minsk on 29-31 May.
 
Under the title "Public Policy Challenges - European and Regional Dimensions" the 18th edition of the Summer Seminar for Young Public Policy Professionals from South Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region gathered around 40 participants from state institutions and policy-oriented research centers. The seminar, held in the Albena resort at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast on 29 May  – 2 June, was organised by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and supported by the CEI along with other partners, i.e.

Students and experts, in clinical engineering, biotechnology, health informatics and public health from the CEI region, i.e.
The conference, held in Chisinau on 25-27 May, witnessed the participation of around 60 women entrepreneurs in the crafts field from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Ukraine and Moldova. Discussions focused on problems faced by women entrepreneurs, solutions and success stories. The gathering aimed at transferring knowledge and exchanging experiences and good practices on migration management in order to contribute to opening new job opportunities.

The second Annual Conference of the Western Balkans Migration Network under the titled „Migration in the Western Balkans: What do we know?“ was held in Sarajevo on 19-20 May.

In the framework of the project Danube-INCO.NET, the workshop “Fostering Bioeconomy in the Danube Region” was organised at the CEI premises on 19 May.

Christoph Leitl, President of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, accompanied by a delegation of about 60 prominent businesspersons from Austria, visited the CEI Headquarters on 23 May.

The delegation was welcomed by Amb. Margot Klestil-Loeffler, CEI Alternate Secretary General, who illustrated the mandate and mission of the Organisation, of which together with Italy, Hungary and the former Yugoslavia, Austria is a founding member.

On 18 May 2017, the results achieved by the KEP ITALY project "Development of a training program on management of disaster prevention, preparedness and rapid response" were presented in Montenegro.

The CEI has recently become a member-partner of the Silk Road Think Tank Network (SiLKS), an informal international network initiated in 2015 by think tanks, relevant international organisations, and institutions jointly with the Development Research Center of the State Council of China. The network currently counts 54 members and partners.
 
The 3rd Committee of National Coordinators’ meeting, under the Belarusian CEI Presidency, took place at the CEI Headquarters in Trieste on 16 May.

Participants focused on recent and forthcoming events of both the CEI Presidency and of the Secretariat. In particular, the Presidency presented the latest organisational, protocol and logistics regarding the forthcoming meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 22 June.

The Forum was organised in Venice on 12 May at the premises of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe by the Trieste Contemporanea Committee.
 
On 13 May, the Central European Initiative celebrated in Trieste the 300 years after the birth of Maria Theresa of Austria.
 
In the framework of the Sarajevo Film Festival, the CineLink Drama workshop took place at the Obala Art Centar in Sarajevo.
 
The CEI is glad to announce a new Call for Proposals for the CEI Know‐how Exchange Programme (KEP) ‐ ITALY. The projects will be co‐financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, entirely financed by the Italian Government.

Proposals are to be in line with the CEI Plan of Action and meet the criteria comprehensively outlined in the Call for Proposals and Application Guidelines.

The Annual Report 2016 of the CEI Fund at the EBRD contributed by Italy was presented during the CEI Steering Committee Meeting at the EBRD Headquarters in London on 6 April 2017. Guido Paolucci, Programme Manager at the Office for the CEI Fund at the EBRD, briefly introduced the main elements of the report.
 
Public and private institutions registered in a CEI Member State, as well as international and regional organisations, are invited to apply to the CEI Cooperation Fund for innovative actions favouring mobility and networking. Proposals need to focus on capacity building by transferring and sharing know-how, in particular from EU CEI Member States to non-EU CEI Member States. The activities can take the form of conferences, seminars, workshops, and training courses.
