Summer seminar for young public policy professionals from South-East Europe and Black Sea Region successfully held in Albena, Bulgaria

Under the title "Public Policy Challenges - European and Regional Dimensions" the 18th edition of the Summer Seminar for Young Public Policy Professionals from South Eastern Europe and the Black Sea region gathered around 40 participants from state institutions and policy-oriented research centers. The seminar, held in the Albena resort at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast on 29 May  – 2 June, was organised by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI) and supported by the CEI along with other partners, i.e. the Hanns Seidel Foundation, the Representation of the European Commission in Bulgaria and the Austrian Embassy in Bulgaria.

During the seminar, the participants had the chance to meet outstanding international experts and practitioners and discuss specific issues concerning good governance practices and public policy challenges. Broader topics on current EU political, economic and security subjects were also tackled as well as topics of regional relevance.

A substantial part of the seminar agenda was devoted to intensive working group discussions and to interactive modules on scenarios for South-East Europe (SEE) and the Black Sea countries by 2030, in the light of the Century of Asia and data-driven public policy.

Moreover, the EPI team presented the results of a survey among the Summer Seminar participants which provided the opinion of the Summer Seminar experts on the current state of governance in SEE. The EPI considers it a bottom-up approach for examining current public policy challenges in SEE based on insiders’ point of view and on a unique extract of opinions from neighbouring EU Member States and non-EU Member States.

This event was co-financed by the CEI Cooperation Fund
