Despite achieved progress, the transport sector in the CEI region still faces many challenges including unbalanced level of infrastructural development, significant environmental impact of transport operations, legislative fragmentation and connectivity disruptions.
The CEI aims at prompting continued efforts to support innovation and integrate sustainable practices for a modern and environmentally-friendly transport system. This, in order to enhance countries’ economic development, sustainable mobility of passengers and goods, tourism and - overall - competitiveness of its Member States.
CEI activities mainly focus on: supporting the modernisation of transport infrastructures and promoting innovative and sustainable transport solutions by facilitating institutional cooperation and open dialogue among key stakeholders to enhance sustainable connectivity in the region.
