The regional conference on "Cultural and Historical Potential in Tourism" took place at the Cultural Center Parobrod in Belgrade, Serbia, on 31 March.
During the event, the following topics were discussed: modern tourism experiences, important quantitative and qualitative changes manifested in the dynamic growth of tourism, the globalisation of the tourism market, the creation of new and more flexible forms of production and consumption of services, economic liberalisation and fostering fiscal measures.

The 2018 edition of the Ex Oriente Film Workshop took place in Prague on 3-9 March, connecting East European filmmakers to key decision makers - producers, broadcasters, distributors and festival programmers worldwide. Director/producer teams were challenged to develop innovative projects and open their horizons to different forms of international collaboration.

The Friuli Venezia Giulia International Piano Competition is taking place in Sacile (Italy) on 4 - 11 May 2018. The competition is open to pianists of any nationality, born after the 1st of May 1985. First prize winners of previous editions are not allowed to participate.

Young digital innovators from all over Europe, the winners of the European Youth Award (EYA), met in Graz, Austria on 29 November – 2 December to show and discuss their creative digital projects. Almost 300 international participants from business, science, and politics gathered and truly lived this Festival’s motto and became “United in Digital Creativity”.

Under the topic “Public discourse in Europe: Can media help to save democracy?” the 11th edition of the South East Europe Media Forum, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 27-28 November, gathered more than 250 editors-in-chief, leading journalists, business professionals, civil society and academia as well as representatives of relevant international organisations and state institutions from Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe and beyond.

The Festival Identity meeting took place on 26-28 October in the framework of the 21st Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival.

The three-day event took place in Trieste on 16-18 October at Music Conservatory “Giuseppe Tartini” and focused on the exchanges between representatives of institutions and music festivals of the Central European area, promoting active participation, and giving the possibility to lay the foundations of a system of cooperation among academic and professional institutes.

On 7-10 April, the RomArchive - Roma Film Archive - Workshop & Film Festival took place in Budapest, Hungary. The event was organised in the framework of the long-term project RomArchive– Digital Archive of the Roma, which aims at becoming an internationally accessible virtual discursive space that makes the cultural heritage and history of the Roma visible and responds to recurring stereotypes by a counter-history told by the Roma themselves.

The Partners of the project COME-IN! (Cooperating for Open access to Museums – towards a widEr INclusion), co-funded under the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE Programme, met in Vienna on 13-14 February and agreed on the final version of the Report on Accessibility in Central Europe. The document provides a set of necessary measures and conditions to make small and medium-sized museums accessible to all.

This year's CEI Award at the Trieste Film Festival has been bestowed upon the Romanian film director and screenwriter Cristi Puiu. The award (3.000 EUR) - traditionally assigned to an artist who best interprets the contemporary reality of Europe and dialogue among cultures - was presented by CEI Deputy Secretary General, Erik Csernovitz, on 26 January.

More than 4500 visitors and professionals participated in the events of the 20th edition of the Jihlava Documentary Film Festival on 24-29 October. This high number of participants was attracted by the distinguished programme of this major documentary film festival in Central and Eastern Europe, including 181 film screenings and more than 80 related events.

Representatives of music academies of CEI countries gathered in Trieste on 26-28 October to attend the CEI Music Higher Education Network symposium. Organised by the Trieste Conservatory “Giuseppe Tartini” in cooperation with the music academies of Sarajevo and Banja Luka, the event was co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund in the framework of the CEI Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2016.
