Enhancing cooperation through joint activities between the CEI and ALDA (European Association for Local Democracy) in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2022, was at the centre of discussions during a meeting at the CEI HQ in Trieste on 15 May.
The delegations of the two parties were led, respectively, by Secretary General, Roberto Antonione, and the Secretary General of the European Association for Local Democracy - ALDA, Antonella Valmorbida.
While presenting the recent and ongoing ALDA activities, Ms. Valmorbida expressed appreciation for the ALDA activities supported by the CEI Cooperation Fund, which focused on the extension of the network of Local Democracy Agencies in Ukraine and on the important contribution of the local and regional authorities towards the EU accession process in the WB.
In this setting, SG Antonione and his team outlined the recent CEI activities in support of Ukraine and possible future projects. He confirmed the interest in cooperating with ALDA on these issues in ongoing and future activities. Both parties underlined the need to ever more join forces to give concrete support to building a strong local good governance expertise empowering the participation of the civil society.
