The 17th Coordination Meeting of Regional Organizations took place in Ancona, Italy, on 5 December 2023, hosted by the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative (AII) Permanent Secretariat.
The three-day event under the title “Strengthening Primary Health Care models and family medicine in the Western Balkans” co-organised with the World Health Organization for Europe (WHO), concluded yesterday in Trieste.
Government officials and representatives from local authorities and civil society organisations met in Skopje on 19-20 October at an international conference on “A Wider European Community: The importance of local governance”, organised by the European Association for Local Democracy – ALDA.
On 8 June, in Brussels, the CEI-Executive Secretariat participated in the General Assembly (GA) meeting of the European Association for Local Democracy (ALDA), a long-standing collaborator and full-fledged partner since 2022.
CEI Secretary General Roberto Antonione was invited by the Montenegrin Prime Minister and Coordinator of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dritan Abazović to take part in the Meeting of Foreign Ministers and Ministers of European Affairs of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP) in Budva, Montenegro, on 5 June.
Enhancing cooperation through joint activities between the CEI and ALDA (European Association for Local Democracy) in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2022, was at the centre of discussions during a meeting at the CEI HQ in Trieste on 15 May.
Upon invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elmedin Konaković, Secretary General Roberto Antonione participated in the opening of the event “Mid-term Evaluation of the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in AII member states”, held in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 5 May.
On 7 March, the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) organised at the European Parliament in Brussels a high-level policy event, “BUILDING AN IDEAHL EUROPE”, focused on digital empowerment and health literacy.
The CEI-Executive Secretariat took part in the 16th Coordination Meeting of Regional Organisations held at the Permanent International Secretariat of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC), in Istanbul, Türkiye on 8 December.
On 1 December, the CEI-Executive Secretariat reiterated its cooperation with the Regional Anti-Corruption Initiative Secretariat (RAI) with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Building on the close cooperation in the area of health between the CEI and WHO Regional Office for Europe, a joint CEI-WHO high-level expert meeting was held on 28 September, in the framework of the Bulgarian CEI Presidency.
