Under the title “Open education as a way to a knowledge society”, the International Conference DisCo 2017 was held at the Microsoft office in Prague on 26-27 June. The 12th edition of the event was organised by the Centre for Higher Education Studies and the Department of Information Science and Librarianship at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University and West Bohemia University. The gathering - opened by Jaroslav Fidrmuc, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Czech Republic - featured workshops focused on Microsoft One Note, Office 365, Skype for classrooms and Minecraft as education tools. The participants identified new working tools and established collaborative relationships.
During the panel discussion “Open Education: The Challenges and Praxis”, the participants acknowledged the most challenging areas for Open Education: opening the minds of teachers and users; quality assurance of content and processes; technological basement (fast internet connection accessibility) and funding.
Thanks to the CEI's contribution through its CEI Cooperation Fund, 15 speakers from CEI countries (Albania, Austria, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania) could take part in the event.
