The Central European Initiative (CEI) and the South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), in special partnership with the Media Program South East Europe of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), have announced the winners of the “CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism 2018”.
The International Centre for Underwater Archaeology in Zadar, in cooperation with the Croatian Ministry of Culture, organised the international conference “Underwater Cultural Heritage in Europe Today” in Zadar, Croatia on 25-27 October 2018.
The CEI Committee of National Coordinators has recently approved the financing of three technical cooperation projects by the CEI Fund at the EBRD entirely funded by the Italian Government.
The second capacity-building workshop of the WASTEOILFREE project (Integrated Waste-oils Management System. Transfer of Best Practices for Safe, Sustainable and Eco-friendly Transport in Serbia) was held in Belgrade on 19 October 2018 at the Serbian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The International Forum, held in Udine, Italy on 19 October, provided a valuable platform for reflection and discussion among representatives from political, social, economic and cultural institutions as well as diplomats, politicians and academics from the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
The final conference of the capacity building project “Support for Strengthening Energy Regulatory Authorities in the Western Balkans” was held in Budva - Montenegro on 12 October gathering representatives from the beneficiary countries, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro, as well as from the European Commission, the Energy Community, and energy stakeholders.
The meeting of the General Committee on Economic Affairs of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension took place on 25 September gathering delegations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine.
The fifth Committee of National Coordinators’ meeting, under the Croatian CEI Presidency, took place at the CEI Headquarters in Trieste on 4 October 2018.
On 28 September and 3 October, three “Blue labs” were organised in Trieste and Monfalcone for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) which are active in traditional and emerging sectors of Blue Economy in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region.
On the occasion of the Committee of National Coordinators’ meeting in Trieste on 4 October, the CEI- Executive Secretariat (CEI) organised a visit to the Scientific Centres based in Trieste.
On 30 September- 2 October, the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) participated in the second edition of the World Summit on Accessible Tourism in Brussels as lead partner of the COME-IN! project, which aims at increasing the capacity of small and medium-sized museums by making them accessible to all.
The event held at IUC – Inter University Center in Dubrovnik, Croatia on 24-28 September, brought together more than 35 researchers worldwide, experts in various fields of logic and a variety of its applications.
On 26-27 September 2018, the Ministry of Construction and Physical Planning of Croatia organised the international expert conference “Energy Efficiency in buildings - for a better tomorrow” in Zagreb.
The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CEI Member States held their traditional informal meeting in New York, on the margins of the United Nations General Assembly (73rd  Session), on 26 September 2018.

On 18 September, the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority (Venice) hosted the 3rd Steering Committee meeting of the project SECNET (Cross-border institutional cooperation for Port Security Enhancement) funded under the Interreg Cross-border Programme Italy-Slovenia.
The Straniak Academy for Democracy and Human Rights, established by the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights, took place in Saranda, Albania from 2 -15 September 2018.
The fifth edition of the “Danube: Future Interdisciplinary School” took place at the University of Ruse, Bulgaria, between 9 and 16 September.
On 12 September 2018, the CEI-Executive Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) of South-Eastern Europe aimed at promoting effective regional cooperation in the field of agriculture and rural development.
This year, over 70 participants from 30 countries have gathered in Bled, Slovenia, on 7-11 September, to attend the Young Bled Strategic Forum and the Bled Strategic Forum.
