The 6th International Rural Tourism Congress held in Split (Croatia) on 10-13 April gathering more than 300 Congress participants from 28 countries recognised experts, scientists, and panelists sharing their knowledge and experiences confirmed that rural tourism is sustainable, digital, and inclusive.
The opening ceremony took place at the presence of Marija Vučković (Minister of Agriculture in the Government of the Republic of Croatia and representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković), Danica Baričević (parliamentary representative and representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković), Dubravka Šuica (Vice President of the European Commission), and other distinguished national and international institutional representatives.
The event consisted of eight major themes: “European Rural Space: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow”, “Rural Tourism: Sustainable Alternative”, “Special Forms of Rural Tourism – New Challenges and Opportunities”, “Innovation and Rural Tourism”, “New Technologies and Use of Artificial Intelligence in Rural Tourism”, ”Interest Grouping and Networking in Rural Tourism”, “Challenges of Adapting Rural Tourism to Vulnerable and Underrepresented Groups” and “Challenges of Human Resource Management”; and included an awarding ceremony for the best young farmers in 2024.
