BSBF promotional roadshow in Warsaw highlights economic opportunities in Big Science collaborations

After successful stops in Belgrade, Bratislava and Prague, the “BSBF promotional roadshow in CEI Member States” – jointly organised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the CEI-Executive Secretariat, the Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia and the BSBF organising committee – visited Warsaw on 16 April, 2024.

Opened by H.E. Luca Franchetti Pardo, Ambassador of Italy to Poland, the event was attended by local companies, government structures, business support organisations, research infrastructures and higher education institutions.
A roundtable, moderated by Sylwia Wójtowicz (Industry Liaison Officer CERN / F4E), dived into the topic of Big Science and the opportunities for economic development and business partnerships it offers to a broad array of stakeholders and operators. Inspiring experiences of Polish companies having benefitted from collaborations with large-scale research infrastructures, such as CERN, ESA and F4E, were presented to a multidisciplinary audience, which was also duly informed about the upcoming “Big Science Business Forum 2024” (Trieste, 1-4 October 2024).

The CEI was represented by Rafał Domisiewicz, Deputy Director for Central and South-Eastern Europe of the Department of European Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Polish representative within the CEI Committee of National Coordinators. Mr. Domisiewicz highlighted the importance of economic cooperation to attain the Organisation’s main goals, i.e., European integration and sustainable development. In this regard, he praised the opportunities offered by the “Big Science Business Forum” for companies and SMEs of CEI Member States, while remarking the need to involve the countries of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe in the consolidation of the Big Science common market.
