​VIII CEI–HECE Spring School on "IoT, economic and management challenges for e-health integration in the enlarged Europe"

The VIII CEI–HECE Spring School on “IoT, economic and management challenges for e-health integration in the enlarged Europe” took place in Koper, Slovenia on 14-17 May. The event was organised by the Higher Education in Clinical Engineering (HECE) of the University of Trieste. The 4-day programme encompassed 13 lectures/talks focusing on selected topics of clinical engineering- outsourcing services, medical device software, clinical and hospital information systems, ICT system to support e-care, mHealth solutions and challenges. The event was attended by students and experts in clinical engineering, biotechnology, health informatics and public health from the CEI region: Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
 
The School was opened by HECE director Prof. Agostino Accardo, and by Prof. Ratko Magjarević, former President of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE), who underlined the growing need for clinical engineers in the Europe and in particular in the CEI region.
The gathering also gave experts the chance to exchange views and experience on the related topics, as well as for networking among all participants.
 
The topics envisaged for next year’s 9th CEI –HECE Spring School to be held in May 2019 will be mostly related to the Internet of Things (IoT), economic and management challenges in clinical engineering in the CEI region.
