Thirty-four students from 20 countries participated in the 2014 Edition of the EU and Legal Reform Summer School held on 13-18 July in Igalo, Montenegro. Fifteen students came from 7 CEI Member Countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine), whose mobility was co-funded through the CEI Cooperation Fund, contributed by all CEI Members.
Since 2003, more than 180 students and scholars from 26 countries have attended this week-long post-graduate course organised by the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development (CCSDD) - a research partnership between the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna and the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy - and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.
The students attended a series of innovative lectures and roundtable discussions aimed at deepening their understanding of the EU’s expansion eastward and subsequent legal and constitutional implications. Past Summer Schools have tackled a variety of topics including minority rights protection, constitutional courts and constitutional justice, and implications of EU enlargement on democratic transitions. The Ambassador of Italy to Montenegro, Vincenzo de Monaco, was one of the lecturers participating in the 2014 Edition.
