The 37th Vilenica International Literary Festival, organised by the Slovene Writers’ Association and the Vilenica Cultural Association from Sežana, is taking place on 6-11 September under the title "‘How far away is home?’ The event will be a window open to the reality of our times where Europe is undergoing dramatic change and unpreparedness before a reality made up of climate change, refugees, families fleeing war, or dire economic conditions; it will focus on refugeeism also as a question of language as well as on the learning of new languages, the latter being a key tool of any writer. Since its inception, the Festival has focused on the gathering of writers from Central European countries and beyond, promoting dialogue in an area with a common history but cultural diversity.

In the framework of the long-standing cooperation with the CEI, on 6 September, at 5 pm, a literary event will be held in Trieste, at the CEI HQ with the participation of the Croatian writer Luiza-Katica Bouharaoua. During the event, the 2022 CEI Award for Young Writers will be presented by CEI Deputy Secretary General, Nina Kodelja.
