CEI-supported Balkan Young Talents Workshop held at Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival

The programme of this year’s Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, held in Belgrade and in other cities in Serbia from 22 to 29 May 2024, included a series of workshops, masterclasses, pitching sessions, and other activities aimed at developing new films and promoting networking opportunities among film experts.

Tijana Rakočević from Montenegro wins CEI Award for Young Writers 2023

Tijana Rakočević, born in 1995 in Montenegro, is a poet, playwright, and writer of fiction as well as a doctoral student at the Faculty of Philology in Nikšić and a member of the editorial board of the literary and cultural newspaper Fokalizator.

CEI Piano Forum 2023 on music competitions, training, careers 

As a follow-up of the 2021 edition focused on “Music diplomacy”, this year’s CEI Piano Forum (Sacile, Italy, 2-6 May) – organised by the Association Piano FVG - provided a platform for exchanging good practices and experiences, but also ideas and prospects to support the young musicians from the CEI region in their early career. Special attention was paid to the need for strengthening the mobility of musicians; the perspectives offered by the multimedia technologies; the promotion of gender equality and equal opportunities for male and female musicians.

Otilia Babara from Moldova receives CEI Award at Trieste Film Festival 2023

As stated by the jury committee “Oranges, chocolates, jeans and plastic dolls arrived in Moldova thanks to all those women who, in the early 1990s, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, left the country to come and work in Italy and abroad. In return, their children sent them video-letters.

Luiza-Katica Bouharaoua born in Croatia in 1985, is a writer, translator and cultural operator. She received the CEI Award for Young Writers 2022 on the occasion of the literary event held at the CEI Headquarters on 6 September, in the framework of the Vilenica International Literary Festival.

Czech Pre-Presidency Conference in Prague

Discussions focused on the agenda and challenges of the upcoming Presidency and more specifically, assessed the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the future of European security; and also explored a number of other key issues, such as the significance of the recent political reshuffle in Central Europe, the recommendations of the Conference on the Future of Europe as well as the new challenges to the Green Deal initiative.

The CEI Award 2022 at the Trieste Film Festival (TSFF) goes to the Serbian director Milica Tomović for her film Kelti (Celts). It was presented by Zoran Jovanovic, Special Advisor to the CEI Secretary General on the occasion of the awarding ceremony held in Trieste on 24 January.
