Around 50 delegates representing the Ministries of Health and National Health Institutes from the Western Balkans (WBs) gathered at the CEI headquarters in Trieste, on 28-30 September, for the second CEI-WHO Europe inter-country/area meeting on Scaling-up Strategies for Primary Health Care.

Building on the close cooperation in the area of health between the CEI and WHO Regional Office for Europe, a joint CEI-WHO high-level expert meeting was held on 28 September, in the framework of the Bulgarian CEI Presidency.

A CEI-ES delegation headed by SG Roberto Antonione participated in the UN General Assembly (UNGA) High-level week that took place in New York from 19 to 26 September 2022.

Performing arts professionals and semi-professionals, including actors, directors, theatre artists, dancers and students from Central and Eastern European countries, participated in the Two Open Weeks of Plavo Theatre 2022 in Belgrade on 10-24 September.
In order to pay tribute to one of the greatest inventors of the twentieth century the CEI-ES has recently offered its patronage to the project “Nikola Tesla: tales from the future”, organised by Associazione Culturale Giovanile Serba (ACGS).

On 23 September, the Consortium of the  CEI-led project NAMIRS gathered in Portoroz, Slovenia to examine the state-of-play of ongoing and future project activities, six months after its kick-off.

On 22 October, after one week of joint training at the Conservatory of Music Giuseppe Tartini, 35 young musicians of the CEMAN Orchestra from eleven CEI countries performed at the Trieste Opera House "Teatro Lirico Giuseppe Verdi" for the Trieste Next Festival.

Support to Ukraine; energy and food security; and the European integration, were the main topics of discussion at the informal MFA meeting in New York on 22 September, held on the margins of the UN General Assembly, where the CEI has observer status. 

At the press conference for the launch of the Barcolana Sea Summit, taking place in Trieste at the beginning of October, the NAMIRS project was presented as one of the major joint initiatives for the protection and safeguarding of the sea as a common resource.

The CEI-Executive Secretariat has recently virtually participated in the 72nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe held in Tel Aviv, Israel on 12-14 September.

On 8 September, the CEI-Executive Secretariat co-organised the event “Smart Living Environments for Active Ageing” in the context of the EU-funded project ACSELL - ACCelerating SmE innovation capacities with a Living Lab approach.

Luiza-Katica Bouharaoua born in Croatia in 1985, is a writer, translator and cultural operator. She received the CEI Award for Young Writers 2022 on the occasion of the literary event held at the CEI Headquarters on 6 September, in the framework of the Vilenica International Literary Festival.

Young leaders and experts from 20 countries across and outside the Central European region gathered in Ljubljana and Bled, Slovenia, on 26-28 August, to attend the 11th edition of the Young Bled Strategic Forum under the title “Democracy fit for the new age”.

The Committee of National Coordinators has recently approved the co-financing of  7 projects under the Know-how Exchange Programmes (KEP) supported by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, financed by Italy.

Thanks to funds for international cooperation amounting to EUR 73,400 made available by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region and administered by the CEI-Executive Secretariat, the AVSI Foundation will contribute to alleviating the humanitarian emergency in Ukraine.

In the context of CEI’s activities for Ukraine, the CEI-Executive Secretariat has decided to financially contribute to the setting up of a field hospital in the Southern part of Ukraine.

The CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) is proud to announce the winners of the 2nd edition of the Call for Ideas and Award Competition “IMAGINE” Active Young Citizens for Sustainable Development in Central European Initiative (CEI) and Adriatic Ionian Initiative (AII) Areas (deadline: 28 February 2022). 
Supporting the integration into the local community of the Ukrainian refugees who had to move to Poland due to the war is the mission of the Ukrainian Educational Hub  opened in Poland, Warsaw, on 25 July.

The 4th seminar of the cycle of meetings on “Green Jobs” took place at the CEI headquarters, with the support of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Autonomous Region (FVGAR) and that of the MARE FVG.

Offering citizens and tourists more attractive connections and integrated ticketing solutions is the main goal of the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the integrated bus-&-train ticket realised within the CEI-led FORTIS project.
