International Design Contest Trieste Contemporanea “Seats of Understanding”

Deadline

trieste contemporanea

Open to designers from CEI Member States and other European countries, the International Design Contest Trieste Contemporanea is a biennial event established in 1995 by the Italian scholar of aesthetics and design Gillo Dorfles. It is organised by the Trieste Contemporanea Committee, with the support of the CEI, the BEBA Foundation (Venice), L’Officina and Studio Tommaseo (Trieste), the Regione Autonoma Friuli Venezia Giulia, and the partners of the international network “Continental Breakfast”.

This year’s theme is “Seats of Understanding”. It invites applicants to submit a potentially iconic item of street furniture that could represent symbolic meanings linked to the historical location of Nova Gorica/Gorizia, and to the sharing of cultural values.

The following Prizes are envisaged:

  • Gillo Dorfles Prize / First Prize Trieste Contemporanea for contest edition best design (4,000 EUR)
  • CEI Prize for the best design from one of the non-EU CEI countries (3,000 EUR)
  • Beba Prize for the youngest designer individually participating, among those selected (1,000 EUR)

Rules & Application Form are available here.
