23 students from 9 CEI Member States (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine), among others, participated in the 2017 Edition of the EU and Legal Reform Summer School held on 9-15 July in Igalo, Montenegro.
Since 2003, more than 200 students and scholars from more than 25 countries have attended this week-long post-graduate course organised by the Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development (CCSDD) - a research partnership between the Faculty of Law of the University of Bologna and the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies in Bologna, Italy - and the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.
The students attended a series of innovative lectures and roundtable discussions aimed at deepening their understanding of the perspectives of the future of the European Union, with a special focus on "Europe at 60. Europe in Crisis", "Western Balkans and EU Transformative Power", "EU and Agency Governance". Past Summer Schools tackled a variety of topics including minority rights protection, constitutional courts and constitutional justice, and implications of EU enlargement on democratic transitions.
This Summer School is co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
