The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the AREA Science Park and the Central European Initiative (CEI) in Trieste on 10 February 2017, aims at supporting CEI Member States in developing strategies and actions to promote progress and competitiveness of the territories through innovation and research.
The three-year cooperation agreement intends to provide technical-scientific support to CEI Member States - especially to the Pre-Accession (IPA) countries as well as to those of Eastern Europe (Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine) - in the development and implementation of plans for the application of Smart Specialisation Strategies.
MoU priority areas regard the transfer of knowledge and technologies, the exploitation of research results leading to repercussions on the market and innovation management and generation of startups.
In particular, both AREA Science Park and the Central European Initiative will promote joint actions to encourage the creation of technology parks and innovation centres, to support training and capacity building as well as facilitate synergies between research and business.
AREA Science Park is a strategic partner within the framework of our activities aimed at facilitating the transition of non-EU CEI countries towards the knowledge economy and innovation. Our actions represent a contribution to the European integration process " – highlighted CEI Secretary General, Amb. Giovanni Caracciolo di Vietri
"The agreement with the Central European Initiative is part of a wider context of international cooperation we are currently focusing on, especially in Central Eastern Europe - says Sergio Paoletti, President of AREA Science Park -The ultimate goal is to create a network of people who are proactive towards innovation and research. This would represent a reference point for the strategies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the International Cooperation ".
