Organised by the Ministry for National Economy, Tourism Department, within the framework of the Hungarian CEI Presidency of 2013, the CEI Expert Meeting on “Opportunities of Transnational Tourism Development in CEI countries” took place in Godollo (Budapest) on 6 June 2013.
The meeting was opened by Dr Viktória HORVÁTH, Deputy State Secretary for Tourism and Mr Gergely PRŐHLE, Deputy State Secretary for Bilateral relations, and gathered tourism advisors and experts from line Ministries and National Tourism Organisations of CEI countries.
The morning session analysed the possibilities of thematic tourism development, also through presentations of examples of successful tourism and cultural routes. Amb. Margit Waestfelt, CEI Alternate Secretary General, presented the support possibilities of development of the tourism project through CEI funds.
The SEEMORE project was also presented as an example of the EU-supported project in the field of tourism in which the CEI aims to involve the CEI countries by Prof. Lucia ILIEVA, Manager of the Association “Sustainable development of Civil Society” and coordinator of the SEEMORE activities in the region of Dobrich, Bulgaria.
The afternoon sessions were organised around three thematic fields: Cultural and gastronomic themed routes, Spa tourism and Sustainable tourism.
