Moldovan Presidency on European integration, support to Ukraine, recovery from pandemic and sustainable development

The 1st Committee of National Coordinators Meeting under the Moldovan CEI Presidency was held at the CEI HQ in Trieste on 14 February.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, Nicu Popescu, opened the gathering expressing his country’s commitment to the CEI, as an efficient instrument in fostering European integration and sustainable development through regional cooperation; he underlined that tangible impacts were envisaged in the region through political dialogue, multilateral diplomacy, concrete projects and initiatives.

Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Vladimir Cuc underlined that the main objectives of this year’s chairmanship would be European Integration, continued support to Ukraine, recovery from the pandemic and sustainable development, with a programme covering specific priority areas, i.e., political dialogue, economic recovery, connectivity, health recovery, scientific cooperation, cultural relations and youth.

The numerous events and activities to be organaised under the new Presidency - besides those to be focused on the established priorities - especially include the MFA Meetings in Chisinau and New York, as well as others linked to the Parliamentary, Economic and Local Dimensions.

The Executive Secretariat, among other things, briefed participants on recent and upcoming events, activities and projects as well as on the outcome of the recently closed Call of the CEI Cooperation Fund.
