The Steering Committee of the Adria A project (Accessibility and Development for the Re-launch of the Inner Adriatic Area) met for the second time on 25 July on the premises of the Veneto Region in Venice. The event was organised by the Municipality of Venice in collaboration with the Central European Initiative.  

Participants had the opportunity to discuss the status of this EU funded project, strengthen the commitment of the institutional partners and approve the technical results achieved so far.

The Central European Initiative Executive Secretariat, located in Trieste, in via Genova 9, intends to draw a List of Qualified Suppliers per each product category related to the goods/ products/ services that will be invited to participate in tenders for amounts lower than 193.000,00 €. BANDO PER LA COSTITUZIONE DI UN ELENCO DEI FORNITORI

The Central European, in compliance with the “General Procurement Notice” of June 28th 2010, will draw up a list of experts in order to meet the specific needs in the field of European affairs to avail itself of professional and technical knowledge in this sector. Through an internal regulation, the procedure for the creation of a single List of experts has been adopted and launched. This will allow to select professionals with the necessary experience and high technical qualifications in the field of:

The SEETAC Project (South-East European Transport Axis Cooperation) was successfully presented at the European Parliament in Brussels for the second time on 28 June, 2011.

The CEI Committee of National Coordinators has recently approved three technical cooperation (TC) projects entirely supported by the Italian Government through the CEI Trust Fund at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Supported through the CEI Know-how Exchange Programme (KEP), the activities of the project entitled Krapina Zagorje County Rural Development Strategy have successfully been concluded with a final conference held on 30 June, 2011 in Zabok (Croatia).

Through its Science and Technology Network, the Central European Initiative has sponsored a Summer School on “Active and Healthy Ageing” organized by the Cluster for Biomolecular Medicine (CBM) on 11-13 July 2011 in Trieste.

The Annual Meeting of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) was held in Budva on 28 June 2011 under the Montenegrin Presidency, followed by a Foreign Ministers Meeting and the Summit of the Organization in Sveti Stefan (Montenegro).

The Life in Transition Survey (LiTS), conducted jointly by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the World Bank, was launched on 29 June.

The roundtable offered filmakers from the CEI Region the opportunity to debate upon the status of cinematography in their respective countries.

So far, more than 30.000 paying visitors from Italy and abroad have visited the exhibition “‘Biennale 2011. Lo stato dell’arte. Friuli Venezia Giulia’, promoted by the Italian Pavilion at the 54th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, which includes the CEI section “Free Port of Art”, organised by the CEI Secretariat and the "Trieste Contemporanea" Committee.

Under the CEI Know-How Exchange Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) carried out a project to facilitate the know-how transfer from experts and local Italian stakeholders to a delegation of seven officials from Montenegro.

The CEI University Network General Assembly Meeting was hosted by the Adam Mickiewicz University - Centre for European Integration in Poznan on 3 June 2011.

7 Projects have recently been approved within the call for proposals launched by the KEP AUSTRIA Programme with a total CEI grant of 200.000.

High ranking academics, experienced foreign service officers and young diplomats gathered on 2 - 4 June on the occasion of the 14th CEI Dubrovnik Diplomatic Forum organised by the Croatian Diplomatic Academy in cooperation with the CEI.

On the occasion of the 24th Meeting of the BSEC Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on 8 June in Bucharest, CEI Deputy Secretary General, Zoran Jovanovic emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding, recently signed between the CEI and the BSEC, is paving the way for future activities in strategic fields of common interest such as transport and logistics, higher education, renewable energy and science and technology.

On the occasion of the 12th International Competition for Chamber Music Ensembles “Premio Trio di Trieste”, which took place in Trieste from 23 to 28 May 2011, the CEI Award for Outstanding Performance (Euro 3.000) was assigned to the Duo Enescu (Alina Bercu and Dragos Manza) from Romania.

In the context of the CEI Research Fellowship Programme – CERES, co-funded by the EU under the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, 10 fellowships were awarded to scientist from CEI countries, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Hungary, Slovenia and Ukraine.

Twelve Ministers for Foreign Affairs and six Deputy Ministers participated in the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central European Initiative held in Trieste on 10 June 2011 and took the opportunity for a large number of bilateral meetings.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Member States of the Central European Initiative (CEI) held their annual meeting in Trieste on 10 June 2011. It was organised in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia and the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES).
