Through its Science and Technology Network, the Central European Initiative has sponsored a Summer School on “Active and Healthy Ageing” organized by the Cluster for Biomolecular Medicine (CBM) on 11-13 July 2011 in Trieste.
Many outstanding lecturers from nine CEI Member States and from the European Commission were invited by an International Scientific Committee: in particular 61 graduate and post graduate students, 30 of which from CEI member countries attended the School.
In her opening address, CBM Chairman, Maria Cristina Pedicchio, emphasized the need for further cooperation between the public and private sectors in research, in view of a stronger partnership for a more effective policy implementation in this field.
CEI Alternate Secretary General, Giorgio Rosso Cicogna, welcomed participants emphasizing the role of scientific research and innovation in the context of a broader regional cooperation for European integration, which represents the core mission of the Organization.
