The 17th Coordination Meeting of Regional Organizations took place in Ancona, Italy, on 5 December 2023, hosted by the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative (AII) Permanent Secretariat.

The IDEAHL project (Improving digital empowerment for active healthy living) made a significant impact at a recent high-level meeting in Brdo (Slovenia), aimed at strengthening healthcare systems in South-Eastern Europe and beyond.

The international conference, "Towards a Transnational Research Network on Solid Earth Science," was held in Trieste on 23 November, organised by the National Institute of Oceanography and Experimental Geophysics (OGS).

In the framework of the CEI Technical Cooperation Programme, Italy, through the CEI Fund at the EBRD, is financing a 500,000 EUR project to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and start-ups in Moldova in boosting their digitalisation, unlocking financing opportunities and enhancing their competitiveness.

With the overall purpose of creating a more sustainable impact on the promotion of economic growth, regional collaboration, peace and security throughout the Balkan countries, the Balkan Economic Forum was held in Tirana on 17 November, under the auspices of the CEI.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the CEI Member States convened in Chisinau on 22 November 2023, for their Annual Meeting under the Moldovan Presidency.

On 20 November in Trieste, the Maritime Directorate of Trieste, in collaboration with Slovenian and Croatian partners, successfully concluded a groundbreaking transnational anti-pollution exercise in the Northern Adriatic.

More than 200 participants attended the XVII South East Europe Media Forum (SEEMF) held in Tirana, Albania, on 14-15 November 2023 under the title “Journalism Will Survive!

In a ceremony held in Tirana, on 14 November, during the South East Europe Media Forum,  the CEI proudly presented the winners of the CEI SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits in Investigative Journalism.

The recently launched RESILIENHANCE project[*] - focused on enhancing territorial resilience against natural and man-made risks - is gaining momentum with the participation of the UNESCO Chairs of the CEI Member States.

A delegation from the CEI-Executive Secretariat, led by Secretary General Roberto Antonione, visited Tirana on 24 October 2023 for consultations on next year’s CEI Presidency under the Republic of Albania.

The training not only served as a valuable opportunity to learn from experienced professionals but also highlighted the dedication of these countries to collaborate effectively in the face of maritime challenges. By fostering a better-coordinated joint response, the participants aim to ensure the safety of their respective coastal regions.
The Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), has recently hosted a two-day training course in Chisinau, Moldova on 17-18 October titled "Enhancing Healthcare Professionals' Capacity for Early Detection and Response to Public Health Emergencies in Central and South-Eastern Europe".
90 representatives from international organisations, NGOs, government representatives and other stakeholders from the region gathered in Skopje (North Macedonia) on 19-20 October for a two-day Gender Responsive Budgeting FORUM – “Going Glocal: Gender Responsive Budgeting in the Western Balkans & Moldova: advancing good governance through empowering CSOs to use GRB tools”.
