2 new technical assistance projects approved under CEI Fund at the EBRD

The CEI National Coordinators have recently approved two new Technical Cooperation Projects (TCs), to be funded under the CEI Fund at the EBRD, entirely financed by the Italian Government, through a total grant worth 500,000 EUR.
They will support Ukraine and the Western Balkan Region, both in the fields of energy and climate change.

The technical assistance will focus on workforce management, gender inclusion, technology deployment, supply chain strengthening, awareness-raising, stakeholder engagement, and policy support, tailored to the specific goals and needs of each project.

Specifically, the project Ukrenergo Transmission Network Emergency Restoration - Gender and Inclusion TC Support will provide support to Ukraine’s electricity transmission company Ukrenergo, which has been affected by heavy bombings during Russia's war on Ukraine. The project aims to restore the country's energy supply by securing funds. The technical assistance will include enhancing workforce skills, gender inclusion efforts, and updating the Gender Action Plan. It will also channel some funds to renewables and strengthen the company's power system for commercial flows with the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E).

The project FINTECC (Finance and Technology Transfer Centre for Climate Change) in the WB  focuses on promoting climate technology transfer across the Western Balkans. The FINTECC programme (a multi-donor co-funded investment programme established by the EBRD for a number of its countries of operation) already operates in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean region (SEMED), Eastern Europe, and Central Asia; and aims to extend to the Western Balkans, with the goal of deploying resource-efficient technologies through investment support, technical assistance, knowledge management, and policy dialogue.
