As project partner of the SUSTOURISMO Interreg Adrion project, on 30 November the CEI-ES has promoted a fruitful virtual round table among main local and regional stakeholders who have been supporting the design and implementation of the pilot initiative “Take a ride on the green side – Enjoy a sustainable visit to Grado and Aquileia”.
The round table witnessed the presence of representatives of public bodies such as the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Department for infrastructures and sustainable mobility, of tourist information offices in Trieste, Grado, Aquileia and Promoturismo FVG (regional DMO) as well as of representatives of the museums of the City of Aquileia.
Starting from an analysis of strengths and weaknesses identified for the pilot initiative, stakeholders debated the potential improvements of the implemented action in view of the summer season 2022.
The participants, acknowledging the added value of the SUSTOURISMO pilot action implemented in the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, highlighted the opportunity to further promote the initiative through a planned marketing and information campaign reaching a broader target also in other countries. Another topic that emerged is the need of integrating the designed model with additional sustainable means of transport for cyclists such as train and bus services. Moreover, according to participants, it is also important to reason on the reward schemes, as to improve the attractiveness of the initiative: in this regard, agreements with local tourism business could be considered.
Once again, the discussion proved that collaboration among relevant stakeholders is key to respond to local territorial challenges: in particular, a systemic and more integrated approach with existing mobility services could better respond to tourists’ needs and will provide them with new sustainable solutions to reach the main cultural sites within the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
The new season of the SUSTOURISMO Pilot action will be ready by the beginning of next summer, stay up to date and discover all related news!
