The requests submitted in June this year by ICARUS (Intermodal Connections in Adriatic-Ionian Region to Upgrowth Seamless solutions for passenger) and MIMOSA (Maritime and multimodal sustainable passenger transport solutions and services) to become EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) labelled projects, have been successfully accepted; and the two projects have been inserted under pillar 2 - Connecting the Region, TSG2-Transport Subgroup.
The EUSAIR was established to promote economic and social prosperity and growth in the region by improving its attractiveness, competitiveness, and connectivity. The Strategy covers eight countries: four EU Member States (Croatia, Greece, Italy, Slovenia) and four non-EU countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia). With such a varied EU-non-EU membership, the strategy will ultimately contribute to the further integration of the Western Balkans.
The MIMOSA project was launched just a month ago under the CEI-ES leadership, whereas ICARUS is led by Istituto sui Trasporti e la Logistica (ITL), with the CEI-ES participating as a project partner.
