On 18 December, CEI senior expert, Gian Matteo Apuzzo, participated as speaker in a panel discussion together with representatives from the European Commission (Directorate General for Migrations and Home Affairs), ILO and IOM. He outlined the different activities promoted by the CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) in the field of migrations, such as the projects co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
His presentation also focused on the results of the MIGRALONA project, funded by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and carried out by the CEI-ES in 2017-2018, in cooperation with the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of South-East Europe (NALAS) and the Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI). Migralona represents a good example of the multi-stakeholders approach, since its various activities gathered more than 160 representatives of relevant ministries, municipalities and CSOs in the Western Balkans.
Discussions focused on the territorial dimension of migration management in order to better cope with the consequences of large movements of people and to enhance the capacity of local actors for developing and implementing effective policies and services.
