The final event of the MEDOCE Project "Establishing Methodology for the Development of CE Application for Directive on Machinery" was held in Belgrade on 25 October.
The gathering – jointly organised by the know-how provider, the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO) and know-how recipient, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia (CCIS) – aimed at presenting the results of MEDOCE as well as the new CCIS service for chamber members.
Deputy Manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Mihailo Vesović stated that the idea to launch the project derived from the fact that Serbia had to adjust its market, implement regulations and technical standards related to free movement of goods and competition from the EU.
Dušan Stokić, Project manager and Head of the CCIS Centre for Environmental Protection, presented the results of the one-year project aimed at strengthening the existing professional capacity of the CCIS through the transfer of knowledge and best business practices of the WKO for providing services to clients when implementing CE marking. He highlighted that the main result of the project “is the development of the digital CE application that will help SMEs identify directives, rules and harmonised standards relating to the safety of their products”.
The application provides the necessary information, documents and instructions on how to affix the CE marking (or Serbian conformity marking) to their products in order to place them on both the domestic and international market. This new CCIS service is for manufacturers, exporters, importers and suppliers of commodities subject to CE marking. The application is also for other entities involved in the area of technical regulation, i.e. state authorities, accredited bodies, testing authorities, institutes, faculties, business associations, and students.
The know-how recipient had already developed a business web portal poslovanje.rs containing basic information about CE marking, products that are subject to CE marking, rights and obligations, etc. This portal has now been upgraded by the transfer of know-how from the WKÖ. The project further envisages the publication of a specialised “Guide to Machinery Directive” which SMEs could use as directions for machine building (design, manufacture and sales of machinery covered by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC) as well as for training representatives of these enterprises in a specialised workshops.
A workshop is taking place in Belgrade on 24 November, where the CCIS staff will be trained to use, maintain, upgrade and promote the new service to companies in this area.

The Programme aims at promoting capacity building and technical assistance through know-how transfer from CEI EU to CEI non-EU Member States.The KEP Grant amounts to 22.972 EUR.
