Exchange of information and good practices on sustainable mobility in tourism areas was on top of the agenda of the 'Seemore Central European Transfer Seminar', on 24 October 2013 at the CEI headquarters in Trieste.
Local and regional authorities in charge of tourism and mobility attended the seminar, from 12 touristic areas in six European countries: Trieste, Grado and Lignano in Italy; Porec, Pula and Dubrovnik in Croatia; Koper and Bled in Slovenia; the Balaton region in Hungary; the Belgrade region in Serbia; Kotor in Montenegro.
As Amb. Margit Waestfelt, CEI Alternate Secretary General, in her welcome remarks, stated that the seminar confirmed the CEI's role as a “bridge between the EU macro-regions”. In fact, touristic towns from the Adriatic and Danube region discussed similar challenges as regards sustainable mobility for tourists.
The seminar was organised within the European project SEEMORE - 'Sustainable and Energy Efficient Mobility Options in Tourist Regions in Europe', co-funded by the EU programme Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE).
SEEMORE aims at fostering and intensifying cooperation among actors from tourism and mobility sectors in order to improve the offer of sustainable transport modes, in particular by promoting the use of public rather than private transport.
During the seminar in Trieste, representatives of the Province of Forli-Cesena in Italy and Madeira in Portugal - project partners of Seemore - presented a number of innovative measures under implementation as part of the project.
