The Central European Initiative was invited to participate as stakeholder in the Trans-European Transport Networks (TEN-T) days on 29-30 November 2011 in Antwerp, Belgium. During the event the European Commission presented the proposal for the new TEN-T Guidelines, adopted by the EC on 19 October 2011.
The proposal is to provide a policy framework where the European infrastructure serves the establishment of the Single European Transport Area. The Guidelines also outline a regulatory framework ensuring efficiency and interoperability as well as provide a planning framework, composed of the Core and the Comprehensive Network. The latter would enable Member States, EU institutions and stakeholders, to concentrate on fostering the emergence by 2030 (core network) and 2050 (comprehensive network) of a functional network of European infrastructure.
During the event, the CEI also participated in the 7th Annual Meeting of Ministers of the South East European Transport Observatory (SEETO) for the development of the SEETO Comprehensive Network. The meeting was attended by high-level delegations from the Transport and Infrastructure Ministries of 6 CEI Member States (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia), as well as by the European Commission, various transport related institutions and the International Financial Institutions.
