The roundtable organised by Autonomous Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Directorate for Infrastructure and Transport addresses main public transport representatives, local communities, located close to the border and directly involved in the topic of cross-border transport and other actors interested in public transport.
Organised in the framework of the FORTIS project (funded under the Interreg V-A Italy-Slovenia CBC Programme), it aims at launching a permanent institutional dialogue on cross-border public transport between Italy and Slovenia, including the start of some pilot activities involving cross-border connections via rail, road and sea.
The round table represents the starting point of the sharing and discussion process on various themes linked to the establishment of cross-border public transport connections in order to identify and later on test new solutions to improve public transport planning. The improvement of cross-border transport services’ quality can improve citizens' life conditions as well as contribute to reversing the process of depopulation of these areas, by increasing their attractiveness also in terms of tourism.
