Annual Session of CEI Parliamentary Assembly in Budva

Parliamentary delegations of CEI Member States gathered in Budva on 27 November for the annual session of the CEI Parliamentary Assembly, organised in the framework of the Montenegrin CEI Presidency.

The agenda envisaged the exchange of views and experiences on  “Cross-border cooperation between countries of the Central European Initiative” and “Parliamentary cooperation with civil society”.

The meeting was chaired by Miodrag Vukovic, President of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension and Head of the Montenegrin Parliamentary Delegation to the CEI. Opening speeches were delivered by Željko Šturanovic, Vice-President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Milan Rocen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, and Gordana Djurovic, Minister for EU Integration of Montenegro. On this occasion, participants adopted a Final Declaration which invites inter alia to further promote joint projects between EU and non-EU CEI Member States in order to: encourage know-how exchange and experience sharing; develop cross-border cooperation projects to strengthen the links among CEI member countries; to reinforce cooperation with the civil society sector through all available mechanisms.

On 26 November, the meeting of the Standing Committee took place as well as the meetings of the three General Committees of the CEI Parliamentary Dimension, which also appointed their Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons. Sen. Vasile Pintilie (Romania) has been elected as chairperson of the GC on Economic Affairs; Hon. Roberto Antonione (Italy) as chairperson GC on Political and Home Affairs; Sen. Oskar Peterlini (Italy) as chairperson of the GC on Cultural Affairs.
