The second meeting of the Committee of National Coordinators (CNC) under the CEI Montenegrin Presidency was virtually held on 8 May. The discussions covered the most pressing issues and imminent events, first and foremost the state-of-preparation of the forthcoming Extraordinary CEI Heads of Government Meeting (15 May) to face current challenges posed by the COVID-19, followed by information on the results of the Extraordinary Call for Proposals in response to the emergency.
The attendees agreed that the overflow of interest received following the call was a positive indicator of a timely action taken by the Secretariat, able to respond to the concrete needs of the citizens of the CEI Member States with targeted interventions. The establishment of the CEI-WHO Task Force to address the COVID-19 was also highly praised. In that regard, the participants were informed of the follow-up meeting taking place on 20 May 2020.
As to the content of the new CEI Plan of Action, the CNC highlighted the need to keep it flexible in order to adjust to urgent needs and requests. The National Coordinators also approved the SG Annual Report 2019, to be adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs soon.
