On 15-16 October 2019, Regional Unit of Thesprotia (RUTH) hosted the 4th Steering Committee meeting of the ADRIPASS project in Igoumenitsa, Greece.
The CEI-Executive Secretariat (CEI-ES) in its capacity as Lead Partner, welcomed the participants, especially thanking the host, as well as the present Associated Partners for cooperation – representatives from the Greek Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and from the Igoumenitsa Port Authority.
During the event, partners discussed the project’s state-of-the-art, providing an overview of the completed and upcoming activities, envisaged with the granted extension of the project to June 2020. Furthermore, a new partner was welcomed to the partnership – the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia.
Within ADRIPASS, the analysis of the integrated multimodal transport in the Adriatic-Ionian region was performed with data collection of border-crossing points at corridor level, underlining main issues and possible solutions, also through ICT. The Final report on data collection will be updated in the upcoming months, together with the Final transnational action plan for the facilitation of freight transport in the ADRION region.
Participants presented their activities regarding the ICT tools for improving multimodal transport in ADRION ports, that are implemented through 4 pilot actions and 1 pre-investment study in the Region of Epirus (GR) and the Ports of Bar (ME), Ploce (HR), Koper (SI), and Durres (AL). The improvements are mostly related to the upgrade of Port Community Systems, with the main aim of streamlining maritime to hinterland freight flows. The hosting partner RUTH had the chance to present its web platform for PCS flow analysis in Igoumenitsa, as well as the AR virtual navigation mobile app, both developed within the project.
The transnational institutional cooperation was highlighted once again as a crucial aspect for facing the challenges concerning multimodal transport accessibility and network efficiency on the TEN-T Corridor sections in the ADRION region. For this purpose, partners discussed further the Transnational Strategy for the improvement of multimodal transport and accessibility in the ADRION region envisioned as a final outcome of the ADRIPASS project.
