Conference in Rome on problem-based learning for cooperation and knowledge transfer in emergency management on public health issues

The Istituto Superiore di Sanità hosted the International conference “Problem Based e-Learning (PBe-L) as an innovative methodology for enhancing cooperation and transferring knowledge in emergency management on public health issues: a policy stakeholders conference” in Rome on 23 October.

The conference supported and encouraged the strategic debate in the region on higher education regarding Public Health issues by promoting the creation of partnerships as well as experience and best practice sharing among some Policy Stakeholders of CEI Member States with reference to the Balkan Peninsula, and key countries facing the Mediterranean Basin (Albania, Belarus, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Israel). The promotion of regional dialogue helps push the conversation about innovative education in emergency management with Public health implications. Therefore, it identifies action priorities in educational programmes to be implemented in each respective country.

Luca Rosi, Head of International Affairs of the Istituto Superiore di Sanità and Chairman of the event, underlined that: “The transfer of new knowledge and overall the ability in designing innovative models of training is certainly one of the keys to mitigating the impact of a hazardous event. However, success will hinge on the ability of the participating organizations to absorb greater responsibility not only in being able to provide innovative training services to ensure adequate availability of quality PH programmes, but also on their full understanding of the European policy priorities on the matter”.

The event was carried out as a concurrent session of the World IANPHI meeting hosted by the Istituto Superiore di Sanità on 22-25 October.

This event was co-funded by the CEI Cooperation Fund.
