The Kick-off meeting of the project “tARTini: Turismo culturale all'insegna di Giuseppe Tartini - Kulturni turizem v znamenju Giuseppeja Tartinija", co-funded under the Interreg Programme Italy-Slovenia 2014-2020, was held in Piran/Pirano on 25 October.
The project aims at establishing a new cross-border itinerary of sustainable cultural tourism to foster the research, conservation, and promotion of the heritage of Giuseppe Tartini, who was born in Piran in 1692. Not only was he a composer but also a professor who trained many musicians from all over Europe at his renowned school in Padua. He was also an innovator in the study of sounds and technology of instruments.
The partnership of this project, led by the Municipality of Piran/Pirano - including the local Italian Community, the Ljubljana Festival, the Conservatory Giuseppe Tartini of Trieste, the Padua University and the Central European Initiative Secretariat - is committed to working for the valorisation of the cultural heritage of this great musician.
The general goal of the project is to increase the value of the artistic, didactic, philosophical and scientific legacy of Tartini as a driving force of an interesting touristic destination, capable of attracting an increasing the number of visitors, based on the territorial marketing model of Mozart in Salzburg. For this purpose, a number of activities will be taking place, among which: cataloguing Tartini’s material, digital archiving and publication of documents, design, and organisation of the new cultural-touristic brand “Giuseppe Tartini”, and structural requalification of the house-museum Tartini through minor interventions in order to facilitate its accessibility to the public.
The CEI Secretariat will have a key role in the communication activities of the project for the integration of results of the different project dimensions (scientific, social, communicative, multimedia) and for improving the accessibility and promotion of Tartini’s heritage. These activities include the creation of a thorough communication plan, the organisation of a study visit to Salzburg for experts and dissemination and training events.
The main results will be the increasing number of visitors in the area, the requalification of the house-museum Tartini and the introduction of technological tools to access and enjoy Tartini’s legacy. This will bring about great benefits to the local community, in particular to the touristic sector, and will motivate the creative industry and the cultural life which, altogether, will set up a model of valorization of a shared cultural heritage that could be replicated in other transnational realities within the CEI’s constituency.
