The interdisciplinary project, “GisNS - Development of Online Geodata Portal of Cultural Heritage in Novi Sad” was successfully concluded on 22-23 January 2015 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The project was led by the 3D Optical Metrology (3DOM) unit of the Bruno Kessler Foundation from Trento, Italy in cooperation with three local beneficiary institutions: the Faculty of Technical Sciences - Department of Architecture of the University of Novi Sad, the Public Enterprise for City Construction and Development and the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments.
In consistency with the overall goal of the project - to solve the problem of either missing or poorly organised digitised 3D Cultural Heritage assets within the geodata portal of Novi Sad - the final event aimed at knowledge and technology transfer in the field of 3D surveying and modelling, with particular attention to the image-based and photogrammetric approach.
The 2-day gathering consisted of theoretical lectures in photogrammetry and UAV mapping, including practical demonstrations with image acquisition in the Museum of Vojvodina and data processing in the University lab. The event was attended by 20 participants with technical and humanistic backgrounds, from the Novi Sad Faculty of Technical Sciences and cultural institutions as well as by the representatives of the project partner institutions.
The final presentation illustrated the results of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) campaign over the Novi Sad city fortress with 2000 images acquired to produce a final 3D model for visualisation and communication purposes, including a web-landing page realised within the project.
Several other web pages will be elaborated with the use of the 3D models made during the project, including previously non-digitised museum artefacts, architectural heritage and Novi Sad monuments.
*** The GisNS Project is financed by the CEI Fund at the EBRD, fully contributed by Italy, in the framework of the Know-How Exchange Programme (CEI KEP ITALY), an instrument co-financing projects focused on the transfer of know-how and best practices from EU to non-EU CEI Member States. The CEI co-financing amounted to 15,000 EUR out of the 42,000 total project budget.
