“Bosnia and Herzegovina on the road to the EU” discussed at Training on EU accession in Sarajevo, supported by KEP Austria

One-week training for 30 state administration officials from Bosnia and Herzegovina is organised this week in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.  The training “Western Balkans getting closer to the EU. Strengthening the capacity of the state institutions to meet the integration challenges today” is organized by the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute together with its partner the Hanns-Seidel Foundation.

This is the fourth and final seminar of the know-how exchange project supported by the KEP AUSTRIA Programme, with funding from the  Austrian Development Cooperation. The project consisted of four separate one-week seminars organised in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia, targeting state officials dealing with issues of European integration, Regional cooperation and Economic development.

The seminar in Sarajevo willofficially  be opened by H.E. Mr. Angel Angelov – Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Bogdan Mirchev - Representative of the Hanns-Seidel Foundation, Bulgaria, Assoc. Prof. Kamen Lozev from the Training Programs and Projects Department of the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute (BDI), Mrs. Nevenka Savic – Director of the European Integration Directorate at the Council of Ministers of Bosnia nad Herzegovina, Mr. Zeljko Jerkic – CEI National Coordinator, MFA of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Mrs. Amira Omanovic – Representative of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The lecturers include Mrs. Antoinette Primatarova, Centre for Liberal Strategies and member of the Advisory Board of BDI, Mr. Vladimir Shopov, Adjunct Professor in European Politics at New Bulgarian University and Amb. Lachezar Matev, Security Policy Directorate at Bulgarian MFA. On the last day of the seminar, an open discussion on the topic “Bosnia and Herzegovina on the road to EU” will be organised. The event will end with a closing ceremony where  H.E. Mr. Angel Angelov will award certificates to participants.

The main aim of the event will be the creation of a trained-up team, familiarised with the challenges and impediments on their way towards EU accession but also with the methods and techniques, used by Bulgaria to overcome them.
