On 20 April 2011 the representatives of several universities covering the Danube and Adriatic Region (Austria, Albania, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia) - which are also participating in the CEI University Network - gathered at the CEI Headquarters in order to explore possible cooperation in the field of education.
The Task Force paid special attention to EU Programmes where participants outlined their experience in EU funded projects as well as future ideas for cooperation.
The gathering was also attended by Regional Organisations and Institutions such as the Adriatic Ionian Initiative (AII), the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Italian Centre of Studies for International Conciliation (CISCI), also actively engaged in interuniversity cooperation projects: the AII, through its University Network UNIADRION and RCC, with education as one of its main areas of activity."Enhancing cooperation with these organisations is crucial in order to pinpoint synergies and specific forms of cooperation and to avoid overlapping in areas of common interest" said CEI Alternate Secretary General, Giorgio Rosso Cicogna. The next meeting will soon be organised in order to look into the various proposals tabled on this occasion in view of submitting joint project proposals to the European Commission.
