The Central European Initiative in cooperation with the Italian Ministry of Environment and Territory hosted the 4th meeting of the “UNESCO World Heritage” Working Group under the Alpine Convention.

The event, held at the  CEI Headquarters in Trieste on 2- 4 February, was divided into two parts:
The Expert Meeting on Potential Cultural Heritage in the Alpine Region, gave participants the chance to draw up a list of potential sites to be included in the List of UNESCO World Heritage. This part of the event was sponsored by Austria and Italy, with the technical support of the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention.

The results of the Expert meeting were then evaluated by the “UNESCO World Heritage” Working Group, also attended by official representatives from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia. The WG focused on the elaboration of an important document on Alpine values as well as on the establishment of the plan of activities for the next two years.
